Miami Intralase Specialists

The surgeons at the Laser Eye Center of Miami, Dr. Abraham Awad and Dr. Gabriel Lazcano, are LASIK specialists. With the help of their skilled surgeons, thousands of patients have eliminated their dependence on glasses or contact lenses. In the paragraphs below they describe the Intralase Technology.

The Laser Eye Center of Miami continually strives to provide the finest technologies available to our patients. Our most recent addition is the IntraLase FS Laser System. IntraLase technology is an all laser, all computerized approach to completing step one of your LASIK procedure. Before your treatment can begin, the surgeon must gain access to your cornea. Traditionally this access was gained by using a hand held mechanical device called a microkeratome. This device houses a metal blade and travels across the eye to cut a corneal flap. In the skilled hands of our surgeons we have experienced excellent results with this platform. However we feel confident that with IntraLase we can offer better technology, better results and better vision. As of January 2005 there have been over 250,000 Lasik procedures performed with Intralase worldwide. That is 14% of all Lasik that was done with Intralase. Studies show that using IntraLase in the first step of the two step Lasik procedure eliminate 90% of the risk. IntraLase allows us the ability to perform an all laser lasik procedure.

After carefully evaluating IntraLase, we believe this computer-guided laser is the most sophisticated and accurate system available today to complete step one of LASIK. The Laser Eye Center of Miami is the first privately owned center to introduce this very exciting technology to the LASIK Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Dade County area.

Our surgeons also offer services for cataract surgery and Miami glaucoma patients. Please visit these pages in the site to learn more.
