ALL LASER CUSTOM LASIK, the most advanced vision correction procedure, is performed in our own state-of-the-art facility. We have available the most advanced ophthalmic equipment including Intralase® laser, for a higher level of safety and accuracy, two VISX® STAR-4 Excimer Lasers, Wave-Scan® vision analyzer that measures the unique "fingerprint" of each eye leading to better vision with higher resolution, and the Pentacam®, the most accurate optical scanner for corneal measurements.

WHAT PROCEDURE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

iLASIK (LASER ASSISTED IN-SITU KERATOMILEUSIS):
- Using Anesthetic eye drops only, your eyes become completely numb -- NO PAIN!
- A special instrument is then placed between your eyelids to prevent blinking.
- Next, using the Intralase® laser, a thin layer of corneal tissue (flap) is created. The dimension of this layer is exactly as specified by the Intralase®. (Traditionally, a blade is used to create the layer but the size and thickness were very unpredictable). This flap is lifted from the cornea as if opening the cover of a book.
- Using the VISX S-4 excimer laser, a cool beam of light from the laser gently reshapes the surface of the cornea making it more like a normal eye. This allows images to come to focus clearer on the retina which is the back of the eye.
- The flap is placed back into place where it bonds securely without the need for stitches.
Most patients are back to their normal activities the following day and already enjoying the benefits of iLASIK.
ASA (Advanced Surface Ablation):
This procedure is usually done on patients with thin corneas.
- Using "eye drops" only anesthetic eye drops, your eyes become completely numb -- NO PAIN!
- A special instrument is then placed between your eyelids to prevent blinking.
- Next, the corneal "skin" (epithelium) is loosened using dilute alcohol and it is gently removed exposing the corneal stroma.
- Using the VISX Custom laser, a cool beam of light gently reshapes the surface of the cornea, making it more like a normal eye. Light can then focus at the back of the eye, on the retina, making images on the retina clear, thereby improving vision.
- A special chemical is applied to facilitate the healing of the tissue. A contact lens is then applied for comfort.
You should expect some discomfort for the first 2 to 3 days. Vision usually begins to improve in 3 to 4 days.

My name is Mauro. I am 41 years old and I am from Milano (Italy). While being on vacation in Florida I took the opportunity to have Lasik surgery at the Laser Eye Center of Miami to correct my myopia and astigmatism. I felt very comfortable in the center and the staff was very courteous and efficient. The Lasik surgery with Intralase was very fast, just about 15 minutes for both eyes and I did not feel any pain. The day after the surgery I was a tourist in Florida, even though I was still careful with my eyes for a week. Since the beginning my vision was good but only after 3 months it stabilized completely, the halos at night were gone.
Now I feel like another person and it seems a dream to be able to wake up and to see without having to use glasses or contact lenses. I had to change my driver license because I had a restriction due to my glasses…and now I do not see with my glasses so I had to remove the restriction. After 20 days after the surgery I went to remove the restriction and I was able to receive my driver license without the use of contact lenses of glasses. It has been now over two years since then and I still see great and if I had to go back I would do the surgery over again.
